Cooking Matters Colorado and the Durango Food Bank will hold the seventh annual Commodities Distribution and Produce Bounty Project from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 18 at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The project, which has the goal of bolstering food-assistance programs with fresh garden crops, will provide local produce to community members in need. Regional gardeners and farmers are encouraged to drop off excess fruit and vegetables from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16-17 at the fairgrounds.
People who earn 185 percent or less of the federal poverty threshold qualify to receive food donations.
Cooking Matters will also provide cooking hints and recipes.
