Don’t blame ICE for doing its proper job

Blaming Immigration and Customs Enforcement for doing its job and following a very reasonable law (Herald, July 2), instead of putting the blame where it truly belongs is one of the problems with the story on illegal immigration.

It seems America has become the nation of lawlessness. Why? Because our people, many who are often “supposed Christians” support lawlessness. In fact some embrace it.

The reason Rosa Sabido is having difficulty is because she has been here illegally for 40 years. That is a long time to get it right.

In God’s eyes, it matters not your excuse, how nice you seem or what you do in the community. If you believe the Bible, we are to be honest and not bear false witness.

The best thing for the people of Mancos (and others who have sympathy for this issue) would be to take up a donation and give Rosa the funds she needs to be legal, not harbor her in a church or blame ICE for doing its job. Don’t act as if breaking a clear law is somehow OK. “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Luke 16:10
