Seeing people from my hometown hundreds of miles away caravanning to the Dakotas to aide in a protest is a joke.
Before someone plays the 1st Amendment card, I’m not saying it shouldn’t be allowed, but it is simply the laziest and most unproductive way to solve any problem.
These protests are truly a temper tantrum that infants claiming to be adults like to collectively join in on, in order to feel self-righteous about a “movement” they can tell their friends and family they were a part of.
If these folks were really that upset about the effects on the water and/or the damaging of tribal lands, they should stay in school and study to find alternative sources for oil, or use the political science degree to lobby the Bureau of Indian Affairs for better protection of sacred lands.
It’s time we start becoming proactive with our issues and not reactive.
But until then, it would be wise to pour some money into posterboard and Sharpie stocks, for every day a group of people are finding something new to march in circles about.
