The attempt by the Koch brothers and their followers to recall County Commissioner Gwen Lachelt is unfounded and unnecessary.
The entire process of a special election will cost tax payers a minimum of an additional $60,000 at a time when many county services have been decreased because of reduced available funds for the county budget.
Gwen has been elected twice, meaning the majority of voters preferred her to her opponent. She has served La Plata County well, looking out for the benefit of all residents.
The Koch brothers don’t agree with her personal environmental values, and will do anything to prevent her and anyone with similar opinions from succeeding.
I strongly urge all registered voters of La Plata County to not sign the petition to have a special election to recall Gwen.
