Downtown snow removal set for Friday, Saturday mornings

Businesses in Durango are required to clear sidewalks abutting their buildings within 24 hours of a major snowstorm.

Herald Staff Report

City of Durango crews will be hauling snow from the Central Business District from 11:59 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday and again Friday night through Saturday morning.

Any vehicles parked at a meter after 2 a.m. either night will be towed. It is illegal to park in a metered space downtown after 2 a.m., but instead of only receiving a ticket, vehicles parked at a metered space will also be towed to the Transit Center.

The Business Improvement District is also reminding merchants they must clear the snow on sidewalks abutting their businesses within 24 hours of a major snowstorm.

For questions on the city’s snow removal policies, contact Mike Somsen, Durango streets manager, at 375-4839 or Mike.Somsen@durangogov.org.
