Durango School District 9-R will hold events and start health care clinics in late May and early June:
A “celebration of learning” will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Escalante Middle School, 141 Baker Lane. The event will feature museum-style exhibits, impromptu theater, musical performances and student-led presentations and discussions. Those who attend are asked to avoid parking in the school’s parking lot and use street parking instead.Local community groups and Durango 9-R will partner June 5 to celebrate people and families who struggle with disabilities. The event is free, open to all and will feature guest speaker Connor Long. For more information, visit growingtogether.sjboces.org.Axis Health System will partner with Durango 9-R to offer School-Based Health Centers – integrated, primary services that provide physical and behavioral health care for students and their siblings – at Durango High and Florida Mesa Elementary schools. Centers are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at Florida Mesa Elementary and Monday through Friday at DHS.
