The Durango City Council has recognized the winners of a bookmark contest sponsored by the Friends of the Durango Public Library and Maria’s Bookshop.
Renee Sebestyen, secretary of the Friends of the Durango Public Library, on Tuesday announced the winners and runners-up in the high school, middle school and elementary school categories.
Delia Bong, a Park Elementary School student, won the elementary school category. The runner-up was Rylan Zalbowitz, a Needham Elementary School student.Anna Wiley, a seventh-grade home-school student, won the middle school category. The runner-up was Rachel Ager, a sixth-grader at Miller Middle School.Hannah Juntunen, a ninth-grade Durango High School student, won the high school category. The runner-up was Talulah Seashore Botha, a 10th-grade Southwest Colorado eSchool student.Winners each took home a $100 gift certificate to Maria’s Bookshop, and runner-up students won $50 gift cards.
Thousands of bookmarks, printed with the artists’ names and schools, will be available at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., and Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave.
