Durango Arts Center hosting classes

Durango Arts Center is hosting monthly classes leading into in-person summer camps.

Spring visual art classes are available for registration and online participation for children and adults. The classes offer fun, noncompetitive opportunities to explore new skills and individual expression. All supplies included with a zero-contact pickup. During spring break, there will be available time slots for families to take a ceramic painting class. Participants may choose from a plate, cup or bowl and paint designs to create a personalized piece. The pieces will then be fired and available for pick up a week later. A maximum number of participants per session is capped at five, and masks are required to participate. Stations will be sanitized before and after every session.

Durango Youth Theatre Company, and DYT Company Jr. members will be able to attend in-person camps. Because of current COVID-19 regulations, camps will have a limited enrollment of 10 students who will learn in a distanced theater environment. Mask regulations will be determined at the time of the camp. A way to present the work of the students will be decided based on many factors, including the availability of a safe performance space for students as well as the audience.A wait list will be created in case the program is able to expand the number of students based on current COVID-19 restrictions.
