The city of Durango is requesting public input as it budgets for 2014.
Those who wish to submit ideas for consideration can email CityManager@durangogov.org or mail them to the City Manager, 949 East Second Ave., Durango, CO 81301. Comments are due Aug. 30.
After a series of public meetings, the budget usually is adopted at a City Council meeting in the late fall and goes into effect the first of the year.
On Dec. 11, 2012, the City Council approved a $55 million operating budget for 2013.
As part of the budget, the city provides community-support funding to local nonprofit agencies every year. More than $660,000 was allocated to support community programs and services in 2013. Applications for community-support funding for 2014 are now being accepted. That application deadline is Aug. 16.
To be eligible to apply, the local organization must be a certified nonprofit in good standing and provide services to city residents. For more information, further details on measures, and an application visit www.durangogov.org/csf.
