Durango BMX sent riders to Super Nationals BMX last weekend in DeSoto, Texas, which featured about 1,500 riders from across the country.
Eight-year-old Wesley Speicher placed second in the 7-8 mixed open class and third in the 8-year-old intermediate class. He is already qualified for the upcoming world championships in Azerbaijan. He is also about to become an expert class rider.
Brennan Buiso, a 2016 Fort Lewis College graduate, earned a pair of first-place finishes in the 21-25 age division’s cruiser class, and two second-place finishes in the 21-25 expert class.
Hayden Raymond, who will be a senior at FLC in the fall, earned his USA BMX Open qualifier jacket while racing for the Pure Avian team.
Three-time USA BMX champion and former elite men’s world champion Bubba Harris will visit Durango to host a two-day BMX clinic in conjunction with Durango BMX this weekend.
The clinic will be held Friday and Saturday at the Durango BMX track, located at 360 South Camino Del Rio behind Animas Auto Spa.
The cost for the clinic is $125, cash only, and scholarships for riders are available. The event is open to all ages.
Friday’s session will begin at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday’s session will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Races will be held Friday night.
