Durango Botanic Gardens, formerly known as the Durango Botanical Society, wishes to thank John Anderson for his service as president of the organization for the past three years.
During Anderson’s term, DBG added a number of new gardens, including the Cindy Smart Miniature Tree Garden and the Arboretum. Planning had begun as well for the Elevation Grass Garden to be installed in 2021. A functioning sundial and a variety of thyme plants were installed by the Mountain Thyme Herb Society and a Rosie the Riveter Garden was planted.
Anderson directed the installation of new interpretive signage on the north patio of the library. He also successfully steered the organization through the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization’s annual bulb sale, conducted online, was the most successful in the organization’s history.
Thank you, John, for your service to the Botanic Gardens.
