Durango Botanical Society announces a ‘Tree Tips’ workshop

The Durango Botanical Society, in partnership with the La Plata County Extension Office, will host a “Tree Tips” workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 16 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

The workshop will help attendees jump-start spring chores for bushes and trees. Subjects will include plant selection and placement for Durango’s challenging environment, how to recognize diseases and insects and what to do about them, and when and how to prune various types of shrubs and trees.

There will be a break for lunch, and participants can bring something to eat. After lunch, the class will move outside. Participants should dress for the weather.

The cost for members and master gardeners is $25 and $35 for non-members.
