After a rough start to the season, the Durango boys basketball team responded with two consecutive wins.
The Demons (2-1) picked up a 55-39 victory against Aztec (0-5) on Saturday to wrap up the Shiprock Tournament.
The Demons trailed 14-13 after one quarter but took a 26-24 lead into halftime. With a 38-35 lead after three quarters, the Demons put their foot on the gas pedal and locked down on defense to outscore the Tigers 17-4 in the game’s final eight minutes.
No statistics were made available for the game.
Durango will travel to New Mexico again next weekend for three games at the Marv Sanders Invitational at Farmington High School. The Demons will play New Mexico Class 6A Cleveland in the opening round at 3 p.m. Thursday.
