Durango boys soccer falls to Missouri private school

Demons focused on getting better

A trip to Albuquerque for two games in two days didn’t go the way the Demons hoped.

After a 0-0 draw with Sandia Prep of New Mexico on Thursday, the Demons lost 2-0 to Chaminade Prep of St. Louis on Friday. “We had a couple of mistakes out of the back line,” DHS head coach Dalon Parker said. “It was misfortunes and just not a good situation. The first goal, we should have been better and we weren’t. They capitalized on us not being very good at a particular moment of the game.”

Durango (7-2-2) had a match against Fountain Valley scheduled for next week get canceled. Next up for the Demons is a pivotal league game against Grand Junction at 11 a.m. Oct. 7. Grand Junction beat the Demons 1-0 in overtime on Sept. 16. “Only three games left, and you can only throw so much at the boys before it becomes overwhelming,” Parker said.

“The big picture is we need to figure out how to play disciplined and continue to grow and play as a unit. We do that, we’ll be fine.”
