The Durango High School boys basketball team won four of its last five regular-season games to earn the No. 29 seed for the Class 4A state tournament.
The Demons (11-12) will host No. 36 Glenwood Springs (9-14) to begin the state championships at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The winner will play at No. 4 Montrose (23-0) in the second round.
Lewis-Palmer (22-1) earned the No. 1 seed, followed by No. 2 Pueblo South (23-0) and No. 3 Mead (19-4). League foe Grand Junction (15-8) scored the No. 17 seed.
Durango ended its regular season against Montrose on Saturday, hosting MHS at Fort Lewis College.
Durango came out strong and was basically even with MHS in the first half, going into the break down 22-19. Montrose, however, started to pull away after that, winning the third quarter 21-9 and then scoring the first eight points of the fourth to score a 58-33 win over DHS.
Anthony Flint scored 18 points to lead Durango. Dylan Bettin added seven, and Walter Stauffer chipped in four points and six rebounds. while Luke Wesley and Brady Leimbach each scored two.
In the state tournament, however, everybody basically starts over at 0-0.
