The Fast and The Curious 5K/10K Fun Run is back for round two. The Durango Education Center will host its second annual fun run on June 24. The event will begin and end at Santa Rita Park, taking place from 8 to 11 a.m. Both distances follow the river trail with an out-and-back style route. All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit education center, which is a nonprofit organization.

The event, however, has a unique twist to it. Competitors can opt to shave seconds off their running time by answering multiple-choice questions that reflect the content of GED exams, meaning correct answers can change the outcome of the race.

Registration for the 5K race is $35 and open to both runners and walkers, but kids under 16 years old can run for free. The 10K is designated for runners only and costs $45.

The event includes a picnic for finishers, prizes and vendor tables. Runners can also enjoy free manual therapy and a pre-race stretching session from the event’s sponsors.

The mission of the Durango Education Center is to fill educational gaps by providing the skills and knowledge necessary for livable careers, postsecondary education, and social and economic mobility. For more information about its services, call 385-4354.
