The Colorado Department of Transportation will host a job fair Wednesday (Oct. 19) at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. (Durango Herald file)
Highlight of the week

The Colorado Department of Transportation will host a career fair from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 19) at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Community members interested in a career in transportation are invited. The job fair will share information about highway maintenance specialist jobs, as well as other available positions in nonmaintenance divisions such as traffic and safety, survey, right of way, engineering and more.

CDOT is hiring people who have a commercial driver’s license to join the agency’s maintenance division as permanent or temporary highway maintenance specialists. Those interested in obtaining their CDL are also urged to apply.

At the career fair, people will be able to complete an application, be interviewed and possibly receive a conditional job offer. Positions are available not only in Durango, but also in the greater area. Bring a driver’s license (whether a CDL or regular license), copies of a current resume and work history details to the event.

For more information or to apply online, visit http://careers.codot.gov.
