Highlight of the week

Durango Nordic will host McDonald’s Twilight Night race on Wednesday (Jan. 25) at Purgatory Resort.

The race start is 6 p.m. and registration/bib pick up is at 5 p.m. Set at the base of Purgatory, this short track race is for Nordic skiers, fat bikers and snowshoers to battle it out in the dark, up and down punishing terrain and around quick turns.

This event will consist of three separate races. Skate skiers, fat bikers and snowshoers will start together and follow courses laid out for each discipline. For each discipline, the course will be somewhat different but equally punishing. The courses are 3 km to 5 km and will take racers 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners in the categories of individual male and female in the Youth (under 18) and Adult, and Youth (under 18) for each discipline.

The entry fee is $5 per participant for one race.
