Grab some popcorn: The Durango Independent Film Festival starts Wednesday (March 1) and runs through Sunday with a packed schedule of films, panels, parties and workshops.
The opportunity to experience and discuss global, innovative and diverse films by independent filmmakers will be held at various times at three different theaters and venues in Durango.
The festival kicks off with Free Movie Night at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Animas City Theatre, Durango Arts Center and Gaslight Theatre. Seating is first come, first served.
To attend the festival, either a pass or a ticket is needed. Individual tickets to films are available, but buying a pass is more affordable. A printed copy of the program schedule can be picked up from the Festival Headquarters at Four Leaves Winery, 528 Main Ave., or online at durangofilm.org. It is recommended that all participants arrive to each showing early for the best seating.
There are also VIP parties for First Tier pass holders. Special programs will also be held that don’t require a pass, including panels and a Coffee Talk with Filmmakers.
