The 60th annual Hesperus Ski Swap will be held this weekend. (Courtesy of Hesperus Ski Swap)

One of the surest signs that winter is nigh in Durango is when the Hesperus Ski Swap takes over La Plata County Fairgrounds.

The 60th annual swap will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

There will be more than 10,000 items to choose from, including new and used ski and snowboard equipment, according to the swap’s web page. In addition to vendors, residents will have their equipment for sale.

Proceeds from the swap are used for community group donations, patrol medical supplies, patrol equipment, patroller training, facility maintenance and upgrades, and patrol uniforms.
