Santa is greeted by hundreds after arriving at Buckley Park during 2022’s Singing with Santa. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald file)

While Thursday may be all about that flashy Tom Turkey and the ensuing tryptophan, Friday officially kicks off the season of the Big Guy.

And as is the tradition in downtown Durango, he and the missus will be making a special guest appearance, so if you’re riding the line between Santa’s naughty and nice lists, this would be a good time to score some points by giving him the old howdy do.

Singing with Santa will begin at around 5:30 p.m., when you can make your way to Buckley Park, 1200 Main Ave., to score some free hot chocolate and cookies while they last.

If you can, bring your own hot chocolate mug, or complete a scavenger hunt to win a commemorative Singing with Santa mug.

Sing Christmas carols until just before 6 p.m., when Santa will make his grand entrance. After he arrives, it will be time to light the Community Christmas tree. Free photos with Santa will also be available until 7:15 p.m. – be sure to bring your own camera.
