Durango Farmers Market to open May 9

Durango Farmers Market will open for the season from 8 a.m. to noon May 9 at the TBK Bank parking lot across from the City Transit Center on West Eighth Street. Vendors will have locally grown, raised and produced items available.

The market will be implementing safety precautions to allow for increased distancing of customers and vendors. All vendors will wear face masks for the month of May, and customers are asked to let vendors gather their products. Customers are also encouraged to be quick and efficient in their shopping and preorder items if possible. Hand-washing stations and/or hand sanitizer will be available at entrances and exits. Customers are asked to access the market from Eighth Street only.

Live music will be postponed for the beginning of the market’s season, but hot food and beverages will be available in convenient to-go containers. The community is asked to continue their participation to keep the venue a safe place by not gathering, lingering or socializing at the market for the time being.

The market accepts SNAP and offers Double Up Food Bucks, which matches SNAP money dollar per dollar up to $20 each market day.

The market will celebrate mothers on opening day by offering a free tomato plant or flower start to the first 50 moms to come by the Market Info booth.
