Durango Friends of the Arts will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Toh-Atin Gallery, 145 West Ninth St.
After a short business meeting, members and guests may enjoy a program from members of the Shaffer family. An example of families who benefit from DFA grants is Kathryn Shaffer. She plays flute and has four musically talented children, whom she home-schools.
Kathryn and two of her children will be performing. Daniel, 16, will perform on violin. He has been playing violin for 12 years, is a member of the San Juan Symphony Youth Orchestra and performs with a chamber quartet. Johanna, 8, has been playing cello for four years, and is also a member of the San Juan Symphony Youth Orchestra.
The public is invited.
