The Durango Public Library will begin the final process of migrating to the new Integrated Library System on Monday. Services such as renewing library cards and checking in materials will not be available until after Thursday.
Although the governor’s stay-at-home order expires Monday and transitions to “safer-at-home” guidelines, the library will remain closed to the public, continuing with a reduced workforce until all safeguards are in place to protect staff and patrons. The library asks that patrons do not return materials to the library until at least May 4 or later unless they plan to leave the area for an extended period or are moving.
The library is not charging late fees. Returning materials slowly over time will help with the need to quarantine materials before reshelving and allow the library to rebuild workforce to handle returned items.
