It was a sad day when the news of Mike Elliott’s passing was shared. Durango lost a treasure and more aptly put, a “living legend.” Those of us who knew Mike will continue to be blessed by the memory of the times we spent with him and the rich “chapter” he was in our lives.
There is a wonderful quote from John Wooden, the famous UCLA basketball coach: “Talent is God-given, be humble; fame is man-given, be thankful; pride is self-given, be careful.” Mike clearly personified those attributes!
Along with many others, I give thanks that he was in my life. May we all cherish and dwell on what we had, not what we lost.
