A Durango man who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to 90 days in jail, six years probation and must register as a sex offender.
Louis Smith, 24, had sexual relations with the girl in December, according to an arrest affidavit. He pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child, a felony.
According to prosecutors, Smith was one of two men who befriended the girl, visited her house and had sexual intercourse with her. He is suspected of pressuring the girl to perform sexual acts with him.
Smith was sentenced Friday by District Judge Todd Norvell. He was taken into custody immediately after sentencing.
