Durango motor vehicle office reopens after computer troubles

Bayfield DMV opened to handle area customers

The Department of Motor Vehicle office in Durango was closed for much of the day Tuesday as the result of a computer system crashing.

La Plata County spokeswoman Megan Graham said the computers went down about 9 a.m. and were back up shortly after 2 p.m. at the local office, 329 South Camino Del Rio in Bodo Industrial Park. She said the problem was at the state level, but isolated to the Durango office.

The DMV office in Bayfield, which is usually open only on Thursdays, opened Tuesday to handle some of the county’s traffic.
