The Durango High School softball team took down Alamosa 14-4 Tuesday on the road.

“Alamosa put forth a pretty good team,” said Durango head coach John Bernazzani. “But we had a great day offensively and defensively.”

Teagan Kehm started on mound for DHS and pretty much kept Alamosa off of the bases. In four innings of work, Kehm struck out six, walked three and didn’t give up a hit.

“She faced 16 batters and definitely kept them off balance,” Bernazzani said.

Sydney Flores struck out the side in one inning of work while Macey Moore and Kelly Arthur closed out the game.

“Overall, for six innings it was two-hit ball,” Bernazzani said. “A big part of that is we played really clean defense.”

He said Alamosa squared up and hit some good balls, but the Demons caught everything hit at them. Durango’s only error on the day was a slightly errant throw that pulled the second baseman off of the bag.

Offensively, several Demons had good days at the plate.

Alaysia Kremer went 4-for-4, hitting a triple, knocking in one and scoring four runs.

Flores went 2-for-3, scored three times and had three RBI. Flores also hit a hard triple. “She just ripped the ball,” Bernazzani said.

Tehya Barnes went 3-for-4, bringing three runs home while also scoring twice.

Mia Baguskas went 4-for-5, driving in two RBIs.

Durango improved to 4-2 overall with the win. Alamosa slipped to 2-2-1.

The Demons will next play Heritage and Rampart on Friday and then Mesa Ridge on Saturday.

“I’m pretty excited,” Bernazzani said.
