Durango Police search for five suspects connected to armed robbery

Man’s car was stolen Monday from storage unit in Durango

Police are searching for five people suspected of robbing a man at gunpoint Monday night at a storage unit in Bodo Industrial Park in Durango.

The robbery was reported about 7:55 p.m. at Bodo Park Mini Storage, 171 Sawyer Drive.

A man told police he was organizing a storage unit when he was approached from behind by five individuals, said Cmdr. Ray Shupe, spokesman with the Durango Police Department.

One of the individuals brandished a handgun, and the victim fled to a nearby UPS store to report the incident, he said.

The suspects apparently stole the victim’s white 1991 Lincoln Town Car with temporary Arizona license plates. Nothing else was reported stolen.

The Colorado State Patrol and La Plata County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

“Everybody pretty much arrived on scene quickly, but the suspects had already fled the area,” Shupe said.

Police were unable to release additional details, including a description of the suspects.

“It was pretty spotty details that came from the victim,” Shupe said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Chris Thomson at 375-4732.
