Police are searching for three women suspected of attacking another woman and snatching her purse near 12th Street and East Third Avenue.
Melissa Jones, 51, of Durango, sat on a bench about 3 p.m. Jan. 5 near the Mason Center when three women jumped her with no warning, said Durango police Sgt. Deck Shaline.
“No words were exchanged,” he said. “The next thing she knew she was on the ground. ... She described being kicked in her head and body after someone pushed her down to the ground. ... She did suffer some injuries.”
All three women were described as 20 years old or younger. One was described as shorter than the others with long hair that had been dyed or had a fade.
Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 247-1112.
“We do have a couple of leads that we’re going to look into,” Shaline said.
