Durango Public Library is promoting early literacy by providing a free picture book to every 4-year-old in Durango on Tuesday through Oct. 24, while supplies last. The free books are part of the One Book Colorado program.
Families of 4-year-olds can stop by the library to pick up a free book in English or Spanish from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. To arrange curbside pickup, call 375-3380 or email reference@DurangoGov.org.
This year’s One Book Colorado finalists are “The Greatest Adventure” by Tony Piedra, “The Little Red Fort” by Brenda Maier and “The Very Impatient Caterpillar” by Russ Burach. The winning book will be announced and available Tuesday.
One Book Colorado is a statewide initiative that aims to support family reading at home and instill a love of learning in Colorado children.
