Durango residents can register for the 47th Iron Horse Bicycle Classic from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Mountain Bike Specialists, 949 Main Ave.
Online registration for everyone will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at www.ironhorsebicycleclassic.com.
The event, to be held May 25-27, will include: the McDonald’s Citizens Tour and Durango Coca-Cola Road Race to Silverton; the Quarter Horse to Purgatory Resort; the Sprite Kids Race; the Morehart Murphy Subaru Mountain Bike Race; the Durango Cyclery Cruiser Crit; and the La Strada La Plata gravel ride.
Also, the Alpine Bank push-bike park and kids village, BP BMX Straight Rhythm demo and downtown activities are scheduled for the weekend.
Plans are underway to offer the Veterans Train to Silverton for veterans, Gold Star families and Blue Star moms. The 2017 Veterans Train hosted 100 passengers, with a ceremony at Memorial Park in Silverton.
The 2017 Iron Horse included riders from 44 states and five countries.
A portion of the proceeds will support the Mercy Health Foundation and other community entities.
