The sister of a Durango resident has been found dead in Steamboat Springs, five days after she was reported missing.

Steamboat Springs resident Page Stockdale, 58, sister of Durango resident Beth Lamberson Warren, was reported missing Tuesday night. Stockdale’s body was found Saturday morning with the body of Mark Schiebel, 59, also a Steamboat resident, in the Sarvis Creek area of Routt County, south of the city.

In a statement released Saturday night by Steamboat Springs Police Chief Joel Rae, carbon-monoxide poisoning is suspected as a likely cause of death.

According to the release, the truck and camper, initially found by two men who were duck hunting in the area and then notified authorities, was found with all the windows closed and a charcoal grill in the back of the pickup.

Rae said a complete autopsy and toxicology will be completed in the coming days, and the investigation of the deaths is ongoing.

Local authorities reported that Stockdale had recently been seen driving a black Toyota Tacoma with a camper shell registered to Schiebel, but Stockdale’s niece, Kathrine Page Warren, who was close and had been in recent contact with her, was unfamiliar with the man.

“I have no clue who he is,” Warren, a Telluride resident, told Steamboat Pilot & Today.

Lamberson Warren said her family was impressed with the swift response of Steamboat Springs law enforcement.

“The minute this became a missing persons (case), they worked 24-7,” she said. “There are a lot of unanswered questions at this point.”

Stockdale was one of two daughters in a family of six.

“Now she’s gone,” Lamberson Warren said. “She was loved, and I am heartbroken.”
