Durango School District 9-R extends cancellation of school

Survey seeks feedback about instructional support moving forward

Durango School District 9-R announced Tuesday it will extend the cancellation of school for an additional two days, to run through March 27.

“The district will continue to monitor the situation in our community and make decisions regarding further extension of the cancellation by Wednesday of each week,” Superintendent Dan Snowberger wrote in a message posted on the district’s website. “This will remain our practice for each week moving forward as needed until a decision to resume school is made.”

The decision was made based on feedback from local health officials, he said.

The district originally extended its spring break by two days, from March 23 to March 25.

The district has created an online form to gather feedback about the best way to “provide educational and instructional supports to students,” including a meal service that will be provided at no cost to any student up to age 18 beginning March 25.
