Durango School District 9-R closed all schools within the district on Friday as a result of hazardous road conditions.

The school district made the decision in collaboration with emergency management, according to an email sent to parents at 5:37 a.m. announcing the decision.

Only a few inches of snow fell Thursday night in Durango, but it was on top of wet conditions that froze overnight, creating slick road conditions for morning commuters.

Bayfield and Ignacio school districts are on four-day schedules and were not holding classes Friday.
