What happened to Cindy Stein and her child should scare every parent in Durango (Herald, Mar. 26). While Cindy was fighting cancer, her child was pushed into gender transition without Cindy even knowing.
Two Durango High School teachers, one a female, the other a male transitioning to female, got involved in the child’s life, encouraged the child’s gender dysphoria, pulled the child into LGBTQ clubs, and then took the child into their own home while the child was a minor. That’s not mentoring, that’s keeping a minor child away from their parent.
In January, Cindy tried to get her child back, but police told Cindy it was a “civil matter.” By March, the child turned 18, and Cindy hasn’t heard from her child since. A mom was cut out of her own child’s life by people who were supposed to be teaching. And it’s not the only betrayal of trust case.
Former band teacher, Ben Smith, supposed to be a “safe adult,” is now facing 48 federal felony counts related to enticing a minor and for having child pornography. Investigators found pictures of over two dozen local kids on his phone.
Our schools are full of politics and ideology, while kids can’t even read and do math at grade level. Gender issues are being pushed on kids and parents are being left out. In Cindy’s case, her rights were erased completely.
We need accountability. Protect the kids. Respect parents. Get back to real education. Anything less is just wrong.
