Durango School District 9-R and Fort Lewis College will take the same week for spring break during the 2019-20 school year, a move long desired but difficult to coordinate.
Spring break for 2020 will be from March 16 to March 20. The school district will move its spring break one week earlier after 2019, and FLC will move its spring break two weeks later so they’ll be aligned.
Superintendent Dan Snowberger said efforts to align spring breaks between the public school system and the college have been made since he arrived in 2012.
“It’s a great opportunity to show the community is aligned and unified,” Snowberger said Tuesday at a Board of Education meeting.
Holding spring break one week earlier will allow the district to not split its testing window for standardized tests.
