The city of Durango is seeking input from residents to shape a renewed vision for the look and feel of the downtown area.

Durango’s Community Development Department wants to hear from community members about how the city might redesign the streetscape and public spaces along Main Avenue between Fifth and 14th streets.

An online questionnaire is available for residents. The questionnaire asks how residents use the downtown area and the changes they might like to see.

The Community Development Department also asks about downtown areas in other towns that residents have visited and what aspects of those downtowns might work for Durango.

The project team will use results from the questionnaire and discussions with a stakeholder group and the Business Improvement District to form a conceptual design.

Among the elements of downtown that will be discussed are patios, sidewalks, street trees and other landscaping, bicycle facilities, vehicle lanes and parking crosswalks.

The questionnaire will be open through Jan. 7. Additional commenting opportunities are anticipated in February and March.
