Durango senior Jack Beattie wins scholarship

Durango/San Juan Lodge No. 46 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons announces that Jack Beattie, Durango High School class of 2019, was awarded a $28,000 scholarship.

The scholarship grants $7,000 per year, for four years. Beattie is the son of Todd and Alana Beattie, and plans on attending Colorado College in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Lodge Scholarship Committee has awarded a La Plata County graduating senior four times in recent years.

Each year, the Durango Masonic Lodge interviews students for its local Emory E. Smiley Scholarship, and then forwards the applicants’ information, with its comments to The Colorado Masonic Benevolent Fund Committee, for their review. Beattie is one of six graduating seniors from Colorado high schools to receive this award for the 2018-19 school year.
