Durango, stop crying in your craft beer

I read with interest the article by Jack Llewellyn, the executive director of the Durango Chamber of Commerce (“Have a voice in our economy,” April 27).

Definitely the theme was “woe is us.” Llewellyn’s big sadness was over the recent passage of increased restrictions on oil and gas development statewide which will negatively affect part of the economy here in southwest Colorado.

I am reminded of the famous quote from Apollo 13, “Houston, we have a problem.”

Right now the world has a problem and that is global warming. We here in Southwest Colorado do not feel it as much as other parts of the U.S. or the world but it is real.

Sacrifice is not a word people like, especially if it seen as personal. But we need to reduce fossil fuel consumption for our kids and grandkids and our planet.

So let’s be creative in regard to energy and not cry in our Durango-brewed craft beer.
