Escalante Middle School teacher Roberto Javier was recently nominated by University of Colorado at Denver for the Harris History Teacher of the Year Award.
The $5,000 award, sponsored by James F. Harris, is given annually to one middle school and one high school teacher who has demonstrated a commitment to engage students in historical learning. Javier was selected as this year’s middle school nominee.
Two national winners will be announced June 14 on National History Day.
