We visit Southwest Colorado for a month every winter and 10 days in the summer and always put money in the Durango parking meters. But on Friday, July 27, we pulled in to a meter on Main Avenue and we were thrown off by a sign taped over the meter telling people not to park there on Saturday because of an event. Somehow, since we couldn’t see the meter, it made us not think about needing to feed the meter, so we got a parking ticket. No big deal, but when I went to pay at the transit office, I described what happened.
To my surprise, an agent at the window named Jeremiah said that because we’ve never had a ticket in Durango, he was reducing the ticket to a warning with no fine. Wow! Kudos to Jeremiah for trusting me and to Durango for your unexpected kindness. We love ya!
