Durango Transit Walmart stop to be relocated Friday

Effective Friday, the Durango Transit bus stop located in the Walmart parking lot will be relocated to the southwest corner of the building on Dominguez Way.

Pickup time will remain the same, with transit buses arriving every 30 minutes at :10 and :40 after the hour. Passengers with mobility concerns may request drop-off at the front entrance of Walmart. Seniors and passengers with disabilities may apply for door-to-door Opportunity Bus service online or by calling 247-3577.

Durango Transit is in the process of designing the new stop to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This will include an ADA-accessible bus stop platform, curb and adjacent sidewalk. Other amenities will include a shelter and bench.

The relocation is in response to a request from Walmart management. The stop was previously located to the south of Walmart’s front entrance.

For more information or to provide feedback, call Sarah Hill at 375-4901 or email transit@DurangoGov.org.

Durango Transit will host two virtual town hall meetings to gather feedback and comments about transit service, and to provide an update about transit projects, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 14.
