The Durango volleyball squad bounced back after a tough loss against Delta to beat Grand Junction 3-0 on Friday and Grand Junction Central 3-0 on Saturday.
The Demons moved to 13-5 overall and 6-2 in the 4A/5A Southwestern league after the two wins. Grand Junction fell to 1-14 overall and 0-7 in the 4A/5A Southwestern after the loss on Friday night. Grand Junction Central dropped to 5-8 overall and 2-5 in the 4A/5A Southwestern league after Saturday afternoon’s loss.
Senior star outside hitter Aava Dreger returned for the Durango against Grand Junction. Dreger had been out for two weeks with an ankle injury prior to the Grand Junction match.
Dreger led the Demons with seven kills. Senior middle backer Sarah Somrak and freshman middle backer Natalie Demming had five kills each as well. Junior defensive specialist Tyler Trujillo and junior libero Brooklyn Messier had three aces each for Durango.
The Demons finished off Grand Junction 25-20, 25-6 and 25-20.
Dreger and junior outside hitter Avery Rike led Durango with six kills each against Grand Junction Central. Junior setter Eva Stewart led the Demons with three aces as Durango beat Grand Junction Central 25-12, 25-19 and 25-19.
