A duo of Demons earned All-Southwestern League honors in volleyball: Bella Bernazzani earned a first-team nod, while teammate and senior Gabi Razma was named to the second team.
Bernazzani, a senior middle hitter, was second on the Demons in kills with 150 and topped DHS with a .294 attack percentage, committing just 48 total attack errors in 25 matches for the Demons, whose season came to an end in the Class 4A regionals. Bernazzani also led Durango in blocks with 93 on 23 solo blocks and 70 block assists.
Razma shined as Durango’s libero, totaling 350 digs against just 56 defensive errors, averaging 4.8 digs per set. She also ranked third on the Demons with 16 service aces and had 427 received serves against just 34 serve-receive errors.
Fruita Monument’s Joelle Lefevre broke Durango’s three-year hold on SWL Player of the Year. Durango’s Sloan Lovett won two in a row, and Natalie Bulen added to the total last year.
Lefevre, a senior libero, had 637 digs against just 49 defensive errors, averaging 7.6 digs per set. She also tied for fourth on the state-qualifying Wildcats with 15 service aces.
