Season ends at Lewis-Palmer

After sweeping The Classical Academy in three sets to begin play Saturday, the Durango High School volleyball team went up against the playoffs’ top seed in the 4A class.

The Demons fought hard, but lost in three sets 25-16, 25-16, 25-6. Lewis-Palmer (25-0) will advance to the 4A state tournament, while the loss marks the end of Durango’s season.

Durango came up with a victory in the first match of regionals, beating The Classical Academy 25-17, 25-22, 25-7.

The Demons (11-14) finished third in the very difficult 5A/4A Southwestern League behind Fruita Monument and league champion Montrose.

With eight seniors moving on, there will be many new faces on the Demons’ roster next season.
