A 23-year-old Durango woman is recovering at Mercy Regional Medical Center after her vehicle rolled off Highway 151 on Sunday evening, requiring Flight for Life transport.
Colorado State Patrol spokesman Adrian Driscoll said authorities were alerted around 7 p.m. Sunday that a 2002 GMC Yukon traveling east ran off the right side of Highway 151, just north of milepost 6.
Driscoll said the vehicle rolled over two times.
The driver, Mariah Toro, was airlifted to Mercy in critical condition. A Mercy spokesman said that Toro was listed in fair condition as of 11 a.m. Monday.
Driscoll said a 4-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash. Driscoll said the child was properly restrained in a car seat. He was unsure if the child, who had a different last name, was Toro’s daughter.
Driscoll said Toro was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He said the cause of the crash is under investigation, but speed as well as drugs and alcohol are not considered factors at this time.
