Durango’s Community Christmas Tree lighting will take place Friday

After caroling down Main Avenue in 2018, Santa Claus and Tim Walsworth, executive director of the Durango Business Improvement District, light up the Community Christmas Tree in Buckley Park. The 2019 tree lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The Durango Business Improvement District will light the Community Christmas Tree in Buckley Park at 5:30 p.m. Friday as a kick-off for Noel Night – Downtown Durango’s traditional holiday shopping celebration.

Caroling will take place in Buckley Park at 5:15 p.m. before the lighting.

Inclement weather on the night of Singing with Santa, Nov. 29, forced the cancellation of the original caroling procession and tree lighting.

The landmark 130-foot spruce tree in Buckley Park is strung with 1,850 LED lights for the holidays.
