Durango’s Christopher Blevins took another big step in his cycling career Saturday.
The 17-year-old son of Field and Priscilla Blevins placed 62nd in the UCI Road World Championships men’s junior road race in Richmond, Virginia, finishing 2 minutes, 5 seconds behind world champion Felix Gall of Austria.
Gall won the title over the 80.6-mile course in 3 hours, 11 minutes, 9 seconds.
Blevins was the second American to finish, with Adrien Costa finishing 18th only 36 seconds back.
It was the second world championship race of the year for Blevins, who also competed on the mountain bike.
