Residents in Los Angeles are learning a little more about Durango.
Los Angeles Times travel reporter Christopher Reynolds recently soaked up Durango’s rugged charm and is sharing it with his California readers. The story, part of the Postcards From the West series, includes a video of the writer’s trip on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
Calling the city “sporty and historic,” Reynolds delves deeply into this area’s history and local color. He captures the local, active, outdoor lifestyle by spending time on the Animas River Trail and describing the pull of the river, while divulging where to get tongue tacos. He gives the history of Durango, starting 60 million years ago with the rise of the Rocky Mountains.
